We’ve lost eight Marines. Farewell, Marines.

March 19, 2013 Eight Marines have lost their lives and at least six others were injured when a mortar exploded during a training exercise in Nevada. The Marine Corps has suspended the use of all 60mm mortars and their associated tubes used both in training and in deployed settings. The Marines were from the 2nd Marine Division based at Camp Lejeune, N.C., and were conducting live fire training at the Hawthorne Army Depot 140 miles southeast of Reno, Nev., Sunday when a mortar round exploded in a tube at 9:55 p.m. MST. So sorry for their friends and families, and best wishes for the recovery of the injured Marines in this tragedy that is hard to understand. Remembrances for all of our military members from all branches of services who have given their lives, or have been injured in service of their country, and those they left behind. Semper-fi. G
