Every L.A. Pilates Girl I Know Owns Jennifer Aniston’s Comfy Summer Shoe – Therealfeeds – It’s Unseen

Upon arriving at my pilates class, I realized I’d clearly missed the memo: Everyone but me was wearing the exact same pair of sandals. I stashed my chunky orthotics in a cubby and took one last look at the pile of discarded shoes at the entrance to make sure my eyes weren’t tricking me. There sat four pairs of the same black flip-flops, all from Havaianas.

It feels like I blinked and suddenly everyone in Los Angeles was wearing the Brazilian brand’s famous flip-flops, but, truthfully, they’ve been on their way to It-shoe status for a while now. Since 2023, Jennifer Aniston, Elle Fanning, and Alessandra Ambrosio have been rocking the brand’s no-fuss flip-flops, while Jennifer Lopez has been wearing them on repeat for years. It’s not just flip-flops that are back; everyone’s been specifically reaching for Havaianas’s strappy sandals.

Admittedly, I was a little confused when the sandals first started popping up. As someone who grew up during the height of Old Navy’s $1 flip-flop sale, I was having a hard time understanding not only why people wanted to wear the style (I recall many blisters and broken straps), but why they were willing to spend more than $20 on it. Then, I tried a pair.

The moment I slipped into Havaianas’s Slim flip-flops, I knew these weren’t like the sandals of my childhood. While I was accustomed to ones so paper-thin, you could basically feel a single blade of grass below them, these were light yet much more substantive. The footbed was actually comfortable and—to my surprise—with each step I took, my feet felt supported.

The strap didn’t dig into the top of my foot, nor did I feel it loosening with each wear. The style came with me to the beach, pool, and weekend errands, and with each wear, I felt more confident in the shoe’s durability than the last. While I personally don’t wear them on long walks, shoppers on Zappos note that they’ve worn them for miles with no pain.

An added bonus is that these shoes look good with just about all of your summer outfits, especially in a classic color like black, white, or tan. It’s a simple, sleek style that works with everything from pilates-ready leggings to denim shorts and—as Lopez proved—even sun dresses.

I personally find the square-toe flip-flops to be chicer than a classic rounded pair, but Havaianas has other outfit-elevating styles, including blinged-out sandals, platform ones, a beachy collaboration with Farm Rio, and even netted slides that look a lot like those famous (and way more expensive) flats from The Row.
