Whoopi Goldberg is known for many things . She’s an EGOT winner who’s starred in countless movies , shows, and stage productions. She’s also one of the hosts of The View , not to mention being a comedian and writer in her own right.
And maybe you’ve noticed (or maybe you haven’t), but she’s also been sporting the no-eyebrow look for a long time now.
On an episode of ‘The View’ this week, Goldberg explained why she doesn’t have eyebrows.
The talk show was discussing the growing trend of celebs shaving their eyebrows , including the likes of Doja Cat, Lady Gaga, and Kendall Jenner.
But Goldberg was ahead of the trend.
In fact, if you look back at Whoppi Goldberg’s old movie, film, and standup appearances, you’ll notice she may not have had eyebrows back then, either. It’s basically one of her defining features at this point.
But she explained how this came to be, many years ago.
“I had eyebrows as a little kid and you know how men get those bumps? I started to get them on my face so my mother removed them,” she explained on The View .
And, according to her, it just kind of stuck.
“And so I just keep doing it because I don’t know my face with eyebrows unless I’m working — they put them on and take them off,” she continued.
It seems like something people might not always notice right away.
Both Sara Haines and Ana Navarro admitted that they hadn’t noticed Goldberg’s lack of eyebrows until she’d brought it up during the panel that day, People reports.
According to Goldberg, it’s because you can still tell where they’re supposed to be.
“Because listen, what you can see on my face, you know where they went,” she told them. “You know where they are. You see.”
“So when you’re looking at me, your eye sees eyebrows when there are none.”
While she may not have actual hair on her eyebrows, Goldberg still has a brow, and you can definitely tell when she’s making different facial expressions.
But that’s probably why some people straight up don’t notice.
If you’re one of the people who hadn’t noticed until today that Whoopi Goldberg doesn’t have eyebrows, don’t feel too bad. There are definitely a lot of people who didn’t know.
Including one of her ex-husbands.
Whoopi Goldberg has been married three times, and shared that one of her exes didn’t realize she had no eyebrows for years.
“I was married to a man who did not notice until one day he said, ‘Oh my God, you don’t have any eyebrows,’ and I said, ‘Yeah, I know,’” she shared.
But now he knows (and the rest of us, too).
You probably won’t be able to unsee her lack of eyebrows, now.
