‘Black Adam 2’ Won’t Be a Part of the New Phase of Warner Bros. DC Movies

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has opened up on Black Adam , revealing that Black Adam 2 will not be a part of the new phases of DC movies from the Warner Bros. conglomerate. The former pro wrestler and A-Lister actor has spoken about his 2022 movie, and it looks like fans won’t be getting a sequel. Dwayne’s latest movie did underperform at the box office. New leadership from James Gunn and Peter Safran seems to see Warner Bros cutting their losses and not investing in another high-budget movie that might prove a flop. Dwayne is best known for his action roles, including the Fast & Furious franchise.

Taking to social media, Dwayne wrote, “I wanted to give you a long-awaited Black Adam update regarding the character’s future in the new DC Universe.”

“James Gunn and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling. However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters,” he continued, then saying that he and James go back “years” and have always been there to watch each others’ backs. For Johnson, things aren’t any “different now.”

A Thick Skin

The Hawaii native kept well clear of mentioning that Warner Bros’ stock has hit a year low this week, continuing:

“You guys know me, and I have very thick skin – and you can always count on me to be direct with my words.” He also said that one and a half decades of hard work had gone into prepping for Black Adam , and that regardless of things not moving forward, he remains “proud” of the movie he and WB made. Gunn and Safran are behind Suicide Squad and Aquaman , respectively.

Still Exploring

On Twitter, Dwayne also said that DC and his Seven Bucks production company will go onto explore the best ways that Black Adam can work in “future” DC endeavors. Seven Bucks was named after a time in Johnson’s life when he only had $7 to his name.

Keeping Busy With Under Armour

Dwayne juggles his acting gigs amid plenty of other opportunities, not limited to his tequila company and massive promotional deal with sportswear brand Under Armour. He continues his 2018-founded Project Rock with the company. Project Rock 1 saw sneakers sell out in under 30 minutes. This year, it’s been Project Rock x UFC BSR 2. The footwear is named after Dwayne’s Blood, Sweat, Repeat mantra.
